Гриффин, Дэвид Рэй


Дэ́вид Рэй Гри́ффин (англ. David Ray Griffin; 8 августа 1939[1], Уилбер, Линкольн, Вашингтон, США — 25 ноября 2022) — американский философ, теолог, методист, доктор философии, профессор философии религии и теологии, писатель.

Биография

Вырос в штате Орегон, где он принимал активное участие в жизни своей протестантской церковной общины — Церкви Христовой. Приняв решение стать пастором, поступил в Северо-Западный христианский университет, однако консерватизм университета не отвечал его взглядам. Позже обучался в университете штата Орегон, слушал лекции П. Тиллиха. В этот период времени стал интересоваться философией религии. Получил докторскую степень в Клермонтском университете последипломного образования (1970).

Гриффин в течение многих лет жил в Санта-Барбаре, работал преподавателем (1973—2004). Являлся представителем течения — «теологии процесса».

В 1973 году был одним из создателей Центра исследований процесса, который занимается изучением теологии процесса, основанной на платоническом учении с элементами бергсонианства («философия процесса»). Исследования в этом направлении были инициированы Альфредом Нортом Уайтхедом и Чарльзом Хартсхорном.

В 2004 году он завершил штатную преподавательскую деятельность, получив статус почётного профессора (Professor Emeritus), но продолжил работу в качестве содиректора Центра исследований процесса[2].

Скончался 25 ноября 2022 года в возрасте 83 лет от рака. Последние месяцы жизни находился под уходом на дому (в хосписе)[3].

Деятельность, связанная с событиями 11 сентября

Автор известных книг «The New Pearl Harbor» («Новый Пёрл-Харбор», 2004) и «The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions» (2004), посвящённых конспирологическим теориям и версиям террористических актов 11 сентября 2001 года в США, «Усама бен Ладен: Живой или мёртвый?» (2009)[4].

Гриффин стал одним из ведущих представителей «Движения за правду о 9/11» и сооснователем организации «Учёные за правду об 11 сентября» (Scholars for 9/11 Truth). Он выступал сторонником теории контролируемого сноса башен Всемирного торгового центра и критиковал официальные расследования, заявляя о соучастии властей США в терактах[4]. За свою деятельность Гриффин совместно с движением был номинирован на Нобелевскую премию мира в 2008 и 2009 годах.

Награды и признание

  • В 2000 году удостоен Книжной премии от Scientific and Medical Network за книгу «Religion and Scientific Naturalism»[5].
  • В 2006 году стал лауреатом премии фонда «Гелиос» (Helios Foundation Award)[5].
  • В 2009 году включён в список «50 людей, которые имеют значение сегодня» британского журнала New Statesman[5].
