Вайда, Эдвард

Эдвард Вайда (англ. Edward Vajda; род. 10 сентября 1958[1], База морской пехоты Кэмп-Лэджен, Онслоу) — американский языковед венгерско-русинского происхождения, специалист по исторической лингвистике[2]. Профессор русского языка и лингвистики, советник по российским и евразийским исследованиям в Университете Западного Вашингтона[3].

Биография

В 1980 году получил степень бакалавра по русскому языку и сертификат по восточноевропейским исследованиям Университета Индианы. В 1983 году окончил магистратуру по славянскому языкознанию в Вашингтонском университете. В 1987 году, после 10 месяцев исследований, проведенных в 1985–1986 годах в СССР – в Московском государственном университете и Тбилисском университете, –защитил кандидатскую диссертацию по славянскому языкознанию в Вашингтонском университете. С 1987 года работает в Университете Западного Вашингтона[2].

Получил известность как автор реконструкции дене-енисейской языковой семьи, в рамках которой вымирающие енисейские языки в Сибири имели общего предка с языками на-дене в Северной Америке (аналогичная идея высказывалась ранее в работах С.А. Старостина). 67-страничная статья Вайды была опубликована в 2010 г.[4].

В начале 1990-х гг. начал изучать кетский язык, интервьюировал носителей языка в Германии. Позднее отправился в Томск для проведения полевых работ по изучению языка. В августе 2008 г. первым из американских исследователей посетил место, где жили носители кетского языка в Туруханском районе, где проводил активные полевые исследования с сохранившимися носителями языка.
