Шеффлер, Израэль
Израэль Шеффлер (англ. Israel Scheffler; 25 ноября 1923[1][2], Нью-Йорк, Нью-Йорк, США[3] — 16 февраля 2014[1][2]) — американский философ, специалист в области философии науки и философии образования.
Биография
Шеффлер получил степени бакалавра и магистра психологии в Бруклинском колледже, а также степени магистра и почётного доктора еврейской литературы в Еврейской теологической семинарии. В 1952 году он защитил докторскую диссертацию «О цитировании» (англ. On Quotation) в Пенсильванском университете, где учился у Нельсона Гудмена[4]. В том же году Шеффлер начал преподавать в Гарвардском университете, где проработал всю свою карьеру. Он вышел на пенсию в 1992 году[5].
Основные интересы Шеффлера лежали в области философской интерпретации языка, символизма, науки и образования. Он был членом Американской академии искусств и наук, одним из основателей Национальной академии образования, а также бывшим президентом Ассоциации философии науки и Общества Чарльза С. Пирса.
