Ферзигер, Адам

Адам Ферзигер (ивр. ‏אדם פרזיגר‏‎; род. 10 ноября 1964) — американский историк. Специализируется на интеллектуальной и социальной истории, исследует еврейские религиозные движения и реакцию религии на секуляризацию и ассимиляцию в Северной Америке, Европе и Израиле.

Биография

Родился 10 ноября 1964 года во Флатбуше (Бруклин). Уроженец Ривердейла (Нью-Йорк). Учился в академии SAR и школе Рамаз в Нью-Йорке, а также в Бейт Мидраш ле-Тора и Иешиват Хар Эцион в Израиле. Получил степени бакалавра и магистра (научный руководитель — профессор Джейкоб Кац), а также раввинскую смиху в Иешива-университете. Степень доктора философии с отличием (научный руководитель — профессор Гершон Бэкон) получил в Университете имени Бар-Илана. В 1989 году вместе с женой, доктором Наоми Ферзигер (урожденной Вайс), переехал в Израиль. У них шестеро детей. Семья живёт в Кфар-Саве, где Ферзигер ведёт активную преподавательскую деятельность.

Академическая карьера

Занимает кафедру имени Шимшона Рафаэля Гирша по исследованию движения «Тора им дерех эрец» на факультете еврейской истории и современного еврейства в Университете имени Бар-Илана (Рамат-Ган, Израиль). Является старшим научным сотрудником Оксфордского центра гебраистики и иудаики и соорганизатором ежегодного Оксфордского летнего института современного иудаизма.

Был приглашённым профессором и научным сотрудником в колледже Чарлстона (2017), Вулфсон-колледже Оксфордского университета (2013), Сиднейском университете (2012) и Шаньдунском университете (2005). В 2011 году получил награду «Выдающийся лектор» Университета имени Бар-Илана.

В качестве старшего научного сотрудника Центра исследований ассимиляции имени Раппапорта при Университете имени Бар-Илана Ферзигер опубликовал аналитические работы о религиозном лидерстве и новых подходах к продвижению еврейской идентичности. Более десяти лет работал историком в образовательной программе Heritage Seminars в Восточной Европе.
