Хиджра (каста)
Хи́джра (урду حجڑا, хинди हिजड़ा) — одна из каст неприкасаемых в Индии, Бангладеш и Пакистане, занимающих низшее социальное положение, в которую входят гомосексуалисты, бисексуалы, интерсекс-люди, кастраты и трансгендеры (представители «третьего пола»)[1][2]. Кроме них, частью касты являются женщины — жёны и дети мужчин-хиджр (при этом женщин касты хиджра государство не считает третьим полом)[3][4].
История
Многие хиджры часто зарабатывают на жизнь проституцией, попрошайничеством или мошенничеством[2][5]. Иногда хиджры приходят (часто без приглашения) на свадьбы, принимают участие в переездах[2]. Они поют и танцуют, требуя за это «бадхаи» — своеобразное вознаграждение[2][1]. Хиджры склонны жить вместе в общинах, или «домах»[6].
Во время очередной переписи населения в Индии хиджры потребовали признать их третьим полом, отказываясь регистрироваться как «мужчины» или «женщины»[1]. В апреле 2014 года Верховный суд Индии официально признал хиджра третьим полом.
Хиджрами становятся или по факту рождения внутри касты — никакую другую карьеру рождённому хиджрой кроме тех, что связаны с его кастой, просто не разрешат сделать ни окружающие, ни другие члены общины[3].
