Джеймс, Эдвин Оливер

Эдвин Оливер Джеймс (30 марта 1886[1], Лондон, Великобритания — 6 июля 1972[1]) — британский антрополог в области сравнительного религиоведения.

Биография

Был почётным профессором истории и философии религии в Лондонском университете, членом Университетского колледжа Лондона и Кингс-колледжа. За свою долгую карьеру работал профессором истории и философии религии в Университете Лидса, преподавателем в Амстердамском университете и читал лекции Уайлда в Оксфордском университете[2].

Джеймс получил образование в Эксетерском колледже Оксфорда и в Университетском колледже Лондона, где учился у известного египтолога сэра Уильяма Мэтью Флиндерса Питри.

Также был членом Фольклорного общества, занимая пост его президента с 1930 по 1932 год[3].
