Бутчер, Джон
Джон Бу́тчер (англ. John Butcher; род. 1954[1], Брайтон, Брайтон и Хоув, Восточный Суссекс, Великобритания) — британский саксофонист, известный своими работами в жанре фри-джаз.
Биография
В 1970-е годы Джон Бутчер самостоятельно освоил игру на саксофоне[3]. Во время учёбы на физическом факультете Суррейского университета познакомился с Крисом Бёрном, с которым начал играть фри-джаз.
В 1980-е годы Бутчер оставил научную карьеру и сосредоточился на музыке. Он выступал в квартете с Бёрном, а также в трио с Филом Дюррантом и Джоном Расселлом. Входил в состав группы News from the Shed с Паулем Ловенсом и Раду Малфатти[3].
Дебютный альбом Бутчера «Fonetiks» вышел в 1984 году[3]. Несколько лет спустя он основал собственный музыкальный лейбл под названием «Acta»[3].
