Poecilobothrus

Мелкие мухи металлическо-блестящей окраски от зеленовато-голубой до зеленовато-бронзовой.^[2] Наличник по нижнему краю прямой и соприкасается с глазами.^[3]

Типовой вид (Dolichopus regalis Meigen, 1824)^[4] был установлен в 1878 году (Mik, 1878).^[5] Одно время считался подродом рода Hercostomus Loew, 1857 ^[6]. В 2005 году восстановлен в родовом статусе^[7][8].

Личинки, как и у большинства видов зеленушек, встречаются в почве, в песке рядом с водоёмами, могут быть хищниками или питаться падалью. Пищей хищным видам служат коллемболы, тли, черви.^[3]
