Давид Даром (ивр. ‏דוד דרום‏‎; 1943[2][3][…], Бомбей, Британская Индия, Британская империя — 28 апреля 2021) — израильский морской биолог и фотограф-натуралист. До 2007 года возглавлял кафедру научной фотографии в Еврейском университете в Иерусалиме[4].

Биография

Давид Даром родился в Бомбее (Индия). В 1949 году его семья иммигрировала в Израиль и поселилась в Иерусалиме. В 1972 году он получил степень доктора философии в области морской биологии.

Карьера фотографа-натуралиста

Даром фотографировал дикую природу и полевые цветы Израиля[5], уделяя особое внимание документированию растений Библии[6]. Под водой он сфотографировал сотни видов рыб и морских беспозвоночных Красного[7][8][9][10] и Средиземного морей. В 2001 году в его честь был назван вид барабулевых рыб Upeneus davidaromi, обитающий в Красном море[11].

Коллекционирование ножей

Даром был страстным коллекционером художественных ножей ручной работы. В 2002 году он опубликовал серию крупноформатных художественных книг на эту тему[12][13][14][15]. В 2003 году он выпустил книгу «Art and Design in Modern Custom Folding Knives»[16], а в 2005 году — «Art and Design in Modern Custom Fixed-Blade Knives». В 2006 году он опубликовал «The Art of Modern Custom Knifemaking», а в 2007 году — «Modern Custom Knives — The Great Collections». Некоторые из этих томов были переведены на пять языков[17].

В 2008 году Даром опубликовал первую книгу из новой серии «Custom Knifemakers of the World» — «Edmund Davidson, The Art of the Integral Knife»[18][19]. В 2009 году вышла вторая книга серии — «Tim Hancock, The Art of the Western Bladesmith», а в 2011 году — третий том, «The Art Knives of Van Barnett & Dellana»[20].

В октябре 2010 года на ежегодном собрании в Луисвилле (Кентукки, США) Гильдия ножеделов наградила Дарома Мемориальной премией Нейта Познера за «выдающиеся заслуги в продвижении ножей ручной работы»[21].
